I, Carolyn Louise Leake, of Dixon died on Monday Nov. 10, 2025. I was born November 22, 1944, in Amboy, the daughter of Frederick William Leake III and Verna "Effie" (Harris) Leake from Annawan, IL. I graduated from Amboy High School in 1962 and worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 32 years before retiring in 1999. I served for several years on the Presidents Advisory Board for Business at Sauk Valley Community College, was past Secretary of the Amboy Depot Museum Commission, past Secretary of the Temperance Hill Cemetery Association. I was also a member of the Prairie Repose Cemetery Board, and a member of Lee County Honor Flight for Veterans. One of my greatest honors was being the guardian for Milton Steeg, a Korean War Veteran, on the September 20, 2012 Honor Flight to Washington D.C. I Loved tending to my many flower gardens, especially my beautiful mums and feeding tons of birds.
I was preceded in death by my parents, an older brother, and my nephew Frederick William Leake V.
I am survived by a younger brother, Dan (Karen) Leake, my honorary adopted brother, Mike Koppien, of Amboy, and my special friends Cindy and Rob Lightner of Dixon and Cindy Hendrickson of Oregon, IL. I will be laid to rest at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Arrangements are through Jones Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Teen Turf in Amboy, and Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society in Dixon.
I bid farewell to everyone who has been a part of my life. I hope you can remember me with love or at least a smile. Thank you for sharing your world with me. I love you all. Hold on to my memory and the good times we shared, but let me go for I am now in heaven and it doesn't get any better than that. Every time you think of me I'm still within your heart. A celebration of life will be on Saturday Nov. 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Knights Of Columbus Hall in Dixon. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Condolences can be left at
