D. Joan Babel
Born: October 14, 1935 in Harmon, IL
Died: August 1, 2024 in Land O' Lakes, FL
D. Joan (Garland) Babel, 88, of Land O' Lakes, Florida (formerly of Sterling, Illinois) passed away August 1, 2024 at her home in the company of her son, Chuck.
Joan is survived by two sons, Chuck (Jing) Babel of Tampa, Florida; Jay (Kari) Babel of Johnston, Iowa; grandson Noah in the US Navy, stationed in Virginia; granddaughters, Olivia and Riley of Johnston, Iowa; brother, Gary (Carol) Garland of Sterling, Illinois.
Joan was preceded in death by: her husband Ken; a son, Kevin; sister Joyce (Don) Reynolds; brother Tom (Marge) Garland; and parents Lawrence and Mary Garland.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be private with inurnment at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. Local arrangements pending.

Hi Jay, I´m so sorry to hear about your mom..she was a beautiful person inside and out. seeing all your names brings back a lot of memories. I was really close to Kevin in school and we would hang out a lot.. I last saw him a day before his tragic accident... it still deeply affects me.. it´s still hard to talk about it.. you and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers.. much love to you and your family.. your mom did everything right you guys are such incredible people if you ever need anything please let me know..
