Dennis W. Weidman age 74 of Sterling formerly of Amboy died Friday Oct. 24, 2025 surrounded by family at the Rock River Hospice Home in Sterling. He was born June 11, 1951 in Dixon the son of Wayne and Marian (Birdsall) Weidman. Dennis had a long career in the Amboy School District where he served as principal of Central School for 24 years. Dennis coached and later scouted and spotted for the Amboy High School Football Team for many years. He served on the Pankhurst Memeorial Library Board in Amboy for 20 years and also serviced on the Amboy City Council as an alderman for 8 years.
Dennis married Brooke Weller June 5, 1976 in Wheaton, IL.
He is survived by his wife Brooke, children Erica (Justin) Saathoff of Sterling, Aaron (Megan) Weidman of Normal, 3 grandchildren Jack, Nolan, and Macy Saathoff, grand puppy Rizzy; siblings Linda Weidman, Gary Weidman, Dean Weidman all of Amboy and Brian (Gwen) Weidman of Dixon. He is also survived by his cabin family Frank (Karen) Stenzel, Al (Roxy) Stenzel, Dave (Nichole) Stenzel and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marcia Blake.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday Nov. 10, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy. Visitation will be on Sunday Nov. 9, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy and on Monday Nov. 10, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church. Burial of cremains will be on Monday Nov. 10, at 1:00 PM at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Memorials have been established at Amboy Central School Library and the Amboy Education Foundation. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Condolences can be left at www.thejonesfh.com.
