Dolores (Lorry) Kathleen (Nystrom) Petrosky passed away peacefully on the morning of October 14, 2025, at the Allure Nursing home in Sterling, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Petrosky, who passed away on January 4, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda (Glen) Swanson, on September 27, 2011.
She is survived by two sons David (Judy) Petrosky of Hanover Park, IL, and Gregg (Colleen) Petrosky of Sterling, IL; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Rader, Abby (Kevin) Martin, William (Grace) Petrosky, Patrick (Kailee) Petrosky, and Mitchell Petrosky; and five great-grandchildren: Leila and Lennon Rader, Isabel and Evelyn Martin, and Emmett Petrosky.
Dolores was born in Chicago, IL on April 26, 1937, at the Swedish Covenant Hospital, to Rudy and Edith Nystrom. She grew up in the Wrigleyville area and became an avid Cub's fan. Dolores graduated from Lake View High School in 1955, where she excelled academically and was active in various clubs, choir, and set up the girl's bowling club. She graduated from NIU in 1958 with an English, Library Science degree and briefly taught at Lane Tech High School.
While at Northern, she met Bill, and they were married on August 22, 1959. They moved to Waukegan, IL, and she became a homemaker. Dolores was a Den Leader for her boy's Cub Scout pack and kept the scorebook for their little league baseball teams. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of the landscaping and planting tulips. Bill and Dolores moved to Round Lake Beach in 1994. They adored their children and grandchildren, traveling all over to support their academic, athletic, and musical events and achievements, and traveled to Europe eleven times. After Bill's passing, Dolores moved to Sterling, where she continued following her grandchildren, and watching and keeping score of the Cub's games.
A private family celebration of life will be held in Spring 2026.
