Dorthea Phillips
Born: March 11, 1928 in Bardwell, KY
Died: September 14, 2025 in Sterling, IL
Dorthea "Helen" Phillips, 97, of Sterling passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Citadel of Sterling. Dorthea was born March 11, 1928 in Bardwell, KY, the daughter of Samuel and Ruby (Todd) Brown. She married Charles Phillips on November 30, 1944 in Mound City IL. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2000.
Helen worked at Borg-Warner and GE for several years. She loved singing karaoke, dancing, gardening, and spending time with family.
Survivors include two sons, Karroll (Sally) Phillips and Jeff Phillips; three daughters, Judy Powell, Kay (Ed) Hook, and Jan (Rod Hammil) Phillips; one brother, David Brown; one sister, Marilyn Tingle; 11 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Helen was also preceded in death by her parents; and one brother Elwood Brown.
Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
