Island Lake, IL- Douglas (Woody) Eugene Leffelman passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the young age of 68 with his loving family by his side.
He was born February 8, 1957 to Eugene and Joann (Friel) Leffelman in Sterling, IL.
Doug graduated from Franklin Grove High School in 1975. After graduation, he attended Morrison Institute of Technology and received his degree in Civil Engineering. Doug worked in the printing industry for over 35 years until his retirement in 2015.
On September 29th 1990, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kimberly Antoine Grace, along with her two children. He was a family man who would go above and beyond for any of his children. He was Papa to his 8 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Doug was a one-of-a-kind guy with his funny wit. He loved to pick and tease to get a rise out of anyone. He had a great love and passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, NASCAR races, and golfing. He also enjoyed the thrill of hitting the draw in the lottery. He was lucky enough to collect some winnings! In retirement, he loved watching sporting events on TV, playing solitaire and sudoku on his computer. He was well known at the park district for running the girls softball league and coaching the girls. He was a Cub Scout leader, then later became a Cub Master. He participated in a co-ed bowling league with his wife. Doug enjoyed many wonderful vacations throughout his life.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Joann Leffelman, his nephew, Scott Hayen and his in-laws, Neil and Loba Antoine. Doug is survived by his wife Kim of 36 years. His five children: Chris Leffelman (Amanda) Dixon IL; Kristy (Jake) Krajewski Palm Harbor, FL; Michelle (Matt) DiBlasio Glenville, NY; Josh (Monica) Grace Ochlocknee, GA and Becky (Erick) Schiavone Island Lake, IL. Grandchildren Mathias DiBlasio; Aiden, Gracin, and Brynnlee Krajewski; Rylan and Haleigh Schiavone; Logan and Kal Grace. Sisters Denise (Kenny) Sexton Sterling IL, and Regina (Don) Poquette Bartlesville OK. Brothers Jack (Barb) Leffelman Amboy IL, and Tom (Teresa) Leffelman Mendota IL. Sisters-in-law, Dawn (Pierre) Ledbetter, Chattanooga, TN; Diane Smith, Oregon, IL; Brothers-in-law, Scott (Jodi) Antoine, Mt. Morris, IL; Barry Antoine, Mt. Morris, IL.
Cremation rights handled by: Cremation Society of IL Crystal Lake IL. Donations to Vitas Hospice in Douglas Leffelman name. Vitas Community Connection, PO BOX 645352, Cincinnati, OH 45264-5352 888-232-6111. As per Doug's wishes, he will be cremated with no services at this time.
A Celebration of life will be held June 20th, 2026 in his home town of Amboy IL. Location and time to be determined.
