Edwin Lauts Obituary

Died: December 21, 2020; Sterling
STERLING – Edwin D. Lauts, 96, of rural Sterling, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at his home.
He was born on December 2, 1924, in Sterling, the son of Herbert and Anna (Reins) Lauts. He married Connie VanDusen. He later married Juanita Jacques on September 1, 1973. She died December 28, 2007.
Ed was the owner and operator for many years of Lauts' Components in Sterling. He enjoyed his pipe, and took great pride in his John Deere 1929 GP tractor. He was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sons, Doug (Barb) Lauts of Hernando, Mississippi, David (Cyndi)Lauts of Rock Falls, and Chris Lauts of Sterling; stepdaughter, Joanne (Gary) Abels of Forreston; stepson, Raymond (Jan) Forney of Forreston; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; his first wife, Connie in 2001; wife, Juanita in 2007; and brother, Donald Lauts.
Masks and social distancing will be required for a public visitation on Saturday, December26, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 10:30 a.m., with the Reverend Phillip Heuser officiating. Burial will be at Hopkins Cemetery.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire family. I had the privilege of working 2 years for Ed when I was in high school, he was a great guy. Yup, glasses on the end of his nose and the pipe always nearby :) My condolences.
