ROCK FALLS – Gale W. Wind, 56, died Thursday, October 28, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 28, 1965, in Rock Island, the son of Dwayne and Bonita (Snapp) Wind.He attended Alwood Elementary and High School as well as University of Dubuque. He began his working career at Aramark having worked there for 25 years. Then, he went to work for the past 4 years at Birkey's in Prophetstown, a position he loved dearly. Gale married Sherry Pace on June 29, 1991 in Rock Falls. He enjoyed boating and camping, but foremost, he cherished his family time.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry; his children: Jessica Wind and Blake Wind; his motherBonita Wind of Woodhull; his sisters: Cheryl Spellious of Andover and Diane(Ted) Blase of Moline.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
A gathering of friends and family will take place on Monday November 1, 2021 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls, followed by a brief celebration and time of sharing ceremony at 6 p.m. with the Reverend Roger Carlson officiating.

I am among the Aramark Family members that mourns Gales' loss but cherishes the moments shared with him as a coworker and Friend. He was always all the things positive that you wanted in a boss. He loved to share in his kids' accomplishments, he had a great sense of humor, love of Family and a high moral compass. I was stunned by the news of his passing, but am comforted in the feeling he is needed elsewhere. May peace and comfort come to his Family in their time of grieving.

I worked with Gale for years at Aramark. I have missed him since he left and kept in touch with him. My prayers and thoughts are with the whole family.
