Born: March 9, 1936 in Hollowayville, IL
Died: August 26, 2025 in Dixon, IL
Gayle A. Rhodes, 89, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Heritage Square in Dixon. She worked for both KSB and Rhodes Feed Service, serving as Secretary and Bookkeeper.
Gayle was born on March 9, 1936, in Hollowayville, IL, the daughter of Grant and Minnie (Bachlund) Myers. She married Dale Rhodes on June 26, 1955, in Princeton, IL. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2015. Gayle was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dixon. She enjoyed playing Bridge and did so with two different groups; she also enjoyed cooking and even accumulated quite the cookbook collection. Gayle was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and loved her family deeply.
Gayle is survived by her two children, Dean (Joan) Rhodes of The Villages, FL, Jodi (Steven) Brown of Grants Pass, OR; five grandchildren, Clayton (Ana) Rhodes, Nathan (Kali) Rhodes, Sandy (Aaron) Adams, Jameson (Heather) Bushman, Kellyn (Abraham I) DuBois; six great-grandchildren, Oakleigh Adams, Cypress Adams, Abraham Dubois II, Edmund DuBois, Finn Rhodes, Nora Rhodes; four nieces, Sue Burton, Wendy Allen, Cindy Duffy, Cheri Shreeves; three nephews, Bruce Shreeves, Randy Shreeves, Bryan Shreeves; and many cousins.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Laverne Miller, Jean Shreeves; and two nephews, Rick Shreeves, Dennis Miller.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dixon, with Father James Keenan, officiating. Burial will be to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or Heritage Square in Dixon.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
