James Rumley Obituary

James Eugene Rumley
Born: March 18, 1952
Died: June 18, 2025
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our son, dad, brother, grandfather and best friend James Eugene "Jim" Rumley, 73. Jim passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2025 after a short illness.
Although his battle with a serious illness took him away from us, his loving heart left a beacon of light to those left behind. Jim showed his courage in facing life challenges, ups and downs, with a cheerful attitude and beautiful smile, brightening up the world for all who knew him.
Jim was born in Bluefield, WV, the son of Eugene and Ruth (Crawford) Rumley. He graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1970 and married Cheryl Morgan in 1972; she died February 10, 2024.
Survivors include three sons: James (Stacey) Rumley of Sugar Land, TX, Shawn Rumley of Rock Falls and Joe Rumbly of Naples, FL; three granddaughter: Emma, Anna and Everly Rumley; mother, Ruth Rumley of Rock Falls; sister, Ginny (Larry) Whitebread of Tampico; brother Bill Rumley of Rock Falls; he will be dearly missed by special friend and companion, Sharon Burgess of Rock Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father and his nephew Tevin Rumley.
A gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday June 27, 2025 from 10:30 until the service time of 11 AM at the Rock Falls United Methodist Church. There will be a lunch to follow at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jim Rumley Memorial to assist with expenses.
