FREEPORT – Janice Millhouse, 84, formerly of Sterling, went home to be with her Lord on December 28, 2020, following complications from surgery.

Born February 4, 1936, daughter of Faye and June (Bleitz) Paschal, she grew up in Milledgeville, along with her sisters, in the home of her wonderful grandparents, Garland and Lillian Smith. She became a Christian at a young age because of the love and guidance she received from the Bushman family and her special friend Marilyn Bushman Parks. Janice's desire and purpose was to serve her Lord and Savior, and she was an active member of Harvest Time Bible Church.

Janice married Richard on June 28, 1953, and was committed to being his helpmate. Richard preceded her in death on April 30, 2019.

Janice, a beloved mother, was blessed with five children whom she raised to know Jesus, Kim (Vicky), Kirt (Deanna), Scot (Jeri), Brian (Debby), and Julie (Jay) Hurder. She was grandmother to Joshua, Andrew, Tyler, Preston, Ben, and Katie Millhouse, and Libby, Morgan, and Jesse Hurder; and great-grandmother to Oaklee, Sam, Audrie, and "Baby Andy."

Janice was the owner/operator of Milledgeville Greenhouse for over 30 years. She loved gardening and handwork and delighted in serving others.

Janice is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ivon Miller; sister-in-law, Anna Millhouse, her two half sisters; two stepbrothers, a stepsister; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, June and Ray Jarvis and Faye Paschal; and sisters Shirley Miller and Faye Rae Eller.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2020, at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.
