Jean Gertrude Glessner, 78, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL. She worked for McDonalds in Dixon for over 27 years, retiring in October 2004, and then worked at Walmart in Dixon, until her retirement in May 2013.
Jean was born on March 25, 1947, in Dixon, the daughter of Robert and Helen (Joynt) Craney. After Robert's passing, her mother, Helen, married Cleo Bird.
Jean married Howard Glessner on March 9, 1968, in Dixon. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2023. Jean loved her family, Angels, and God. She lived her life truly for her family and loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, above all else.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Tracy Glessner; her son, David (Melissa) Glessner; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Alexa) Sweet, Kody (Ashley James) Sweet, Kasey (Daniela Garza) Sweet, Joel (Sabdy Herrera) Miller, Brenden (Ashley) Gould, Boston Glessner, Karson (Victoria Grossman) Glessner; eight great-grandchildren, Dezeray, Izabella, Jozlyn, Kaylee, Addilyn, Julius, Millie, Beau; two brothers, Raymond (Joyce) Craney, Donald (Bonnie) Craney; one sister, Dona (Dennis) Marsh; one sister-in-law, Joan (Don) Moore.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Craney, and Helen & Cleo Bird, and her husband, Howard Glessner.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with Pastor Jack M. Briggs, officiating. Burial will be to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. A Luncheon will be held after the service at Plum Creek Club, 641 Palmyra Road, Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Heritage Square in Dixon.
