Died: February 4, 2025 in White Hall, IL
Joyce Juanita (Lakin) Cummings, 95, of White Hall, Illinois, passed peacefully from this life to the next on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Joyce was born in Venice, Illinois, on June 17, 1929, the third of fourteen children born to Charles Howard Lakin and Evelyn Cecelia (DeShasier) Lakin.
She grew up working on the family farm and attended church and local schools, graduating from Carrollton High School in 1947. On October 11, 1947, she married Ornan Olin Cummings. Together they shared 54 wonderful years, raising three sons and one daughter. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by 11 siblings-brothers Raymond, Royal, Glen, Elmer, Neal, Harry, Randell, and Terry Lakin; and sisters Mary (Lakin) Hughes, Norm (Lakin) Mohn, and Twyla (Lakin) Painter-as well as by her husbands, Ornan Olin Cummings and Herbert Clevenger; daughter Roberta; son Richard; his wife Donna, and their son Jamie; daughter-in-law Roberta (David).
Joyce is survived by her sons: Ronald (Katherine) of Tyner, North Carolina, and David of Chadwick, Illinois. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and two siblings: Lyndall Lakin and Janet (Lakin) Barlow, both of Berdan, Illinois.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls, Illinois with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating.
