Katherine Hoffman Obituary

Katherine Hoffman
Born: November 4, 1948 in Sterling, IL
Died: September 25, 2023 in Rock Falls, IL
Katherine (Kathy) Hoffman, aged 74, died peacefully in the presence of her loved ones on Monday, September 25, 2023, at CGH Medical Center. Kathy was born on Nov. 4, 1948 in Sterling, to Lawrence and Joyce Koster and graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1966. She married her high school sweetheart, Roger Hoffman on August 10, 1968, in Sterling, and they recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Kathy earned her BS degree in accounting from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and worked as a bookkeeper for several companies. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, playing the piano, traveling, playing bridge and spending time with those she loved. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and supported friends and family alike.
Although Kathy and family lived in several states throughout the years, she resided in Rock Falls for the better part of her life. She was a devoted Christian and member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling where she was part of the leadership team, was active in Bible study and played bells for many years. Kathy was a kind soul whose life was cut short after a long-term battle with bronchiectasis, a rare disease that slowly took its toll, especially over the past 2 years.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Joyce Koster; her older sister Teresa (Larry) Stubbs; and is survived by her loving husband, Roger; her brother, Rowland (Pam) Koster of Harmon; sister Leah (Charlie) Duncan of Clarkridge, AR; two sons, Chad (Maria) Hoffman of Milwaukee, WI, and Ben (Dana) Hoffman of Dixon; five grandchildren, Ben (Danielle) Hoffman, Julia, Morgan, Alex, Aidan; and 2 great grandchildren, Braidan and Annabelle. Visitation will be held Friday, September 29 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling followed by the funeral service and burial. The family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association in Kathy's name.

Roger,
So very sorry for the loss of Kathy. We have so very many good memories with you and Kathy. We were so looking forward to seeing you both when we were to be back in Sterling on October. I was honored to be your best man at your wedding and a part of your lives. Many good times with you and Kathy at RFHS. We cherished your life long friendship and will miss Kathy. We pray for you and your family during this time and may God comfort you and your family. Kathy had a gentle spirit. She was a gracious host for the times we stayed with her in Florida, Iowa , and Rock Falls.
Blessings,
Larry and Carol
