Louis J. DeMay Jr.
Born: September 19, 1946 in Geneseo, IL
Died: March 5, 2024 in Rock Falls, IL
ROCK FALLS – Louis J. DeMay Jr, 77, of Rock Falls, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his home. Louis was born on September 19, 1946, in Geneseo, the son of Laura and Jay Moldt. Louis proudly served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Janice Kloptowsky on November 21, 1970, in Chicago. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2021. Louis enjoyed the outdoors and motorsports. He also loved spending time with his son and grandson at derbies and races, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Robert) Ravel, of Monmouth, and Wendy Hardman (Michael Atkins), of Clarksburg, WV; one son, Louis A. DeMay, of Rock Falls; three sisters, Marge (Charles) Koehler, Judy Hadaway, all of Rock Falls, and Laura (Bob) Stahl, of Bellevue, CO; two brothers, Tom (Sue) DeMay, of Morrison, and Pat (Dawn) DeMay, of Lisle; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his beloved dog "Smokey."
Louis was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Laura (Jay) Moldt; his father; one sister, Marilyn Stram; brother-in-law, Terry Hadaway; and one grandson, Zachery Hardman.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, concluded with military honors.
