ROCK FALLS – Mary J. Dickerson, age 96, died Monday February 9, 2026 at Rock River Hospice & Home.
Mary was born on September 16, 1929 in Covington, TN the daughter of Virgil Estes and Valrie (Pace) Kuykendall. She married John Dickerson, Jr. on November 11, 1945 in Hernando, MS. He preceded her in death December 4, 2004. Mary was a homemaker and worked at the Thome School lunchroom for many year. She loved to crochet and sew in her younger years, but her family was her biggest love. Mary was a member of Modern Light Church in Sterling.
Survivors include, one daughter, Connie (Jeff) Pursell of Rock Falls; one son, Len Dickerson of Fruitland Park, FL; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three great great, grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Terry Dickerson and Johnny Maurice in infancy; six brothers; two sisters.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday February 13, 2026 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brian Tribley officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
