Michael Angel Gutierrez, 69 of Oracle, AZ and formerly of Sterling, died Sunday March 23, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital, Phoenix.
He was born on July 11, 1955 in Sterling, the son of Enrique and Carmen (Cruz) Gutierrez. He was a 1973 graduate of Sterling High School and later served in the US Army, honorably discharged in 1981. He was a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago earning a degree in radiation therapy. He then traveled the country caring for his patients in his unique and humorous way and acquiring many forever friends. In his retirement he moved to Arizona and resided there with his partner of 22 years, Julieanne Snyder, and his beloved beagles Marlow and Mandy.
Survivors include two brothers; Oscar(Vickie) Gutierrez of Dixon, and Ruben(Letty) Gutierrez of Rock Falls, two sisters; Linda Sifuentes and Mireya (Edgar) Soliz, both of Texas; 12 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Henry.
Visitation will be Monday April 7, 2025 from 10-11 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling. Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Deacon Dan Goetz officiating. Burial with military honors will conclude at Calvary Cemetery.

I'm so sorry that you have left us so soon. I have memories as fresh and vivid as the days we shared them, so many years ago. I just returned from my tours in Vietnam, and you were so unhappy with your time at home. We talked about your desire to enlist and grasp a future or at least the attempt to control your future. We moved on and when I came across you a few years ago we touched base, but it seemed that we had lost that connection. It was alright though; it had been nearly fifty years. I wish we had the opportunity to sit and have a moment to relive those days. My cousin I will miss you more now than I have in the past, but no one will ever be able to take my memories away.
