R. Christian Rhoads, 66, of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Dixon. For the past 30 years, he worked as a neonatal nurse practitioner with Ascension Healthcare System and Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.
Christian was born on November 16, 1957, in Dixon, the son of Russell and Carmen (Cornette) Rhoads. He graduated from Northern Illinois University and received an Honorary Degree from Georgetown University. He married June Larimore on June 13, 2022.
Lover of anything that sets your heart racing, Christian saw the bold and beautiful in the world and joy in everything he did. He had a passion for life that was reflected in his interests and hobbies; from jumping out of planes, skiing down mountains, or belting his heart out at concerts, Christian collected mementos from every experience. He encouraged everyone to eat good food, drink good liquor, and keep good company. Christian helped thousands of children take their first breath, saving lives and ushering joy, leaving a lasting impact on many lives. His legacy endures through us all.
He is survived by his wife, June of Dixon; two daughters, Kylie Corinne Rhoads and Raquel Mariah (Mitchell) Struble-Rhoads; three step-daughters, Madeline, Emily and Sarah (Larimore); one brother, Raymond Paul (Pat) Rhoads; and one sister, Karen Dempsey with her mother Eve Rhoads.
Christian was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Ellen Rhoads, and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 22nd from 11am to 2pm at 3967 W Illinois St., Grand Detour, IL, 61021. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to the same address.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Christian´s passing. He was always so full of life and spunk. He loved his girls dearly and always had pictures to share of them and all their adventures when we worked together. Rest easy Christian, you will be missed. Prayers for peace and comfort for his family and all who knew and loved him.
