Maurice Robert "Maury" Rhoads

Maurice "Maury" Robert Rhoads, age 94, of Oscoda, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Atlanta, Michigan on March 11, 2026.
He was born in Comins, on Nov. 1, 1931 to the late Sheridan and Verna (Gusler) Rhoads. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.
After his military service, Maurice earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan Agricultural College (now MSU). He retired from Consumers Energy after a more than 25-year career with the company.
Maurice was a member of the Oscoda Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked both hunting and fishing. He loved yearly camping trips to Harrisville State Park where he would fish for salmon and socialize with family and friends around a campfire. He enjoyed the peacefulness of watching birds and reminiscing about the old days in Comins.
Maurice loved where he lived so much, he would say it felt like he was on vacation every day and he never had to work a day in his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Maurice is remembered by his children, Mike (Toni) Rhoads, Dave (Andrea) Rhoads, Jill (Doug) Fox, Ken (Tamra) Rhoads, Kim (Randy) Telfor; and Kelly Rhoads; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; siblings, Dean Rhoads, Ross (Joan) Rhoads, Ruby Jenner and Sheridan Rhoads; and sister-in-law, Sue Mitchel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheridan and Verna Rhoads; wife, Jan Mitchel Rhoads; brother, Milt Rhoads; sister, Phyllis Harris; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Rhoads and Judy Rhoads; and brother-in-law, Bob Jenner.
