Robert L. Knapp, 87, of Rock Falls, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024 at CGH Medical Center of Sterling.
Robert was born on April 13, 1936, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Jacob C. and Geneva (Snow) Knapp. He married Shirley Lindsley on April 17, 1954 in Rock Falls, Illinois. Robert served in the United States Army. He then went on to work as a Multicraft for Northwestern Steel and Wire. Robert loved farming and he spent many years as a farmer on the Gaulrapp Turkey Farm. He also enjoyed his time as a truck driver for F.S. and Sugar Creek Farms during his retirement. Robert was an active member of Harvest Time Bible Church of Rock Falls and served as a Deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Knapp of Rock Falls; three sons, Mike (Liz) Knapp of Sterling, Dennis (Sandra) Knapp of Rock Falls, Tim (Kathy) Knapp of Sterling; one daughter- in- law, Jody Knapp of Sterling; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Daniel Knapp; five siblings.
A visitation will take place from 9AM-11AM on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Harvest Time Bible Church of Rock Falls. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church and take place at 11AM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks, officiating. A burial with Military Honors will take place following the services at the church at Oak Knoll Memorial Park of Sterling.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to Harvest Time Bible Church.

I am very proud to say I knew Mr. Knapp and his family. I grew up in Sayers Acres, Rockfalls around the corner from his family. We were often in and around their yard and Mr. and Mrs. Knapp were prominent parents in our neighborhood. All of us kids and friends were treated as family by the he and his wife. I celebrate the life and accomplishments of this fine man and great neighbor.
