Ronald Sharp Obituary

Ronald B. Sharp, Sr.
Born: August 27, 1938 in Lincoln, IL
Died: August 22, 2025
TAMPICO - Ronald Sharp, 86, of Tampico, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born on August 27, 1938, in Lincoln, IL, Ronald was the son of Roy and Rosetta (Petro) Sharp. He married the love of his life, Patsy Miller, on August 5, 1961, at the Church of Christ in Tampico, and together they shared many joyful years until her passing.
Ronald was a hardworking and dedicated man. He was employed by Franz Manufacturing and later by Northwestern Steel and Wire, where he proudly worked until his retirement. A man of many interests, he enjoyed fishing, playing pool, bowling, researching genealogy and photography - passions he often shared with family and friends.
He was a faithful member of First Open Bible Church in Rock Falls, where he found fellowship and community.
Ronald is survived by his three children: Ronald "Bruce" Sharp, Jr. and Randy Sharp, both of Tampico, and Jill (Roy) Calkins of Rock Falls. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Miller of Morrison, Cora (Jim) Bellini of Sterling; sister-in-law, Deb Sharp of Rockford; and his brothers, Roy (Shirley) Sharp, Jr., and John (Teresa) Moser, both of Sterling. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Brandy (Ronit) Prajapati, Michelle (Bruce) Peltier, Dakota (Allison) Sharp, Ashley (Chris) Frey, Tyler (Brittany) Blevins, Cody (Rachel) Calkins, and Lexi Sharp; and a cherished great-grandfather to fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Patsy; one sister, Martha (Kenny) Knox; and one brother, John Sharp.
Ronald will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family, and the joy he brought to those who knew him. His legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the McDonald Funeral Home in in Rock Falls. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM with Pastor Les Funderburg officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

I cherish the rare times that I had with Ron. He was very helpful in providing family information that connected us in special relationships. He was a very special cousin whom I wish we had more visits together. May God bless his family in this time of sorrow. Love to all.
