William Robert McDonald, 77 of Rock Falls died Monday January 8, 2024 at his home.
He was born on December 24, 1946 in Sterling the son of Clarence Fagert and Marjorie Grace (Stadler) McDonald. He was 1965 graduate of Rock Falls High School and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Margaret T. Kram on August 29, 1975. She died January 8, 2014. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling from 1967 – until they closed retiring as a foreman. He then worked in maintenance for the Sterling Park District. He had enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include his children: Robert (Sheryl) McDonald, Jerry McDonald, Christy (Robert) Whitt and Becky (Mark) Koehler; his sister Arlene (Cruz) Rivera; five grandchildren: Cody (Teya) Brown, Kelsey Brown, Jamey (Josh) Swetman, Kirsten (Bennett) Taylor and Rachel McDonald.; three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings.
At his request, cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will take place later in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.

Bob was a member of the class of RFHS 1965. Although quiet and reserved, he was a GREAT Guy to have as a friend. RIP Bob, we will have a reunion sometime in the future.

My uncle lived his life on his own terms. He loved life, and was always ready for an adventure. It was heart breaking to know he was so ill. He is at peace now. Sending love to the family. Love you, Uncle Bob, see you on the other side.
