Albert Epstein Obituary

Albert Epstein, 87, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 18, 2018, at Candler Hospital.

Born in Yalovky, Poland, he was a son of the late Louis Epstein and the late Sonia Rosenberg Epstein. Albert and his family moved from Yalovky to Savannah in early 1938. He was a member of Congregation B'nai Brith Jacob. Albert graduated from Savannah High in 1948. He attended Armstrong State College.

In his early teens, Albert was a member of a volunteer force that marched from downtown Savannah to Burnside Island looking out for German submarines during World War II. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served during the Korean War. Mr. Epstein was a licensed real estate broker for close to 60 years.

He was an avid chess player and devoted sports enthusiast.

Albert loved his family, G-d, and his country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Isadore and Elliott Epstein.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Sandra (Sandy) Clark Epstein; two sons, Robert and Laurence Epstein; two daughters, Dawn Epstein Berlinsky Wexler and her husband, Larry, and Lisa Dillard and her husband, Morgan; two grandchildren, Arielle and Aiden Berlinsky; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery.

The family will sit Shiva at Buckingham South, 5450 Abercorn Street, on Wednesday from 4:30 until 6 o'clock and on Thursday and Friday from 2 until 5 o'clock.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wumi and Ms. Cox, P.A., as well as the staff of Candler Hospital for their outstanding care. We would also like to give special thanks to Sister Donna for her prayers and support.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob - 5444 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia 31405 or the American Lung Association of Georgia - 6606 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

As a child, Albert was a major fixture in my life. He was warm, kind and quite funny. My name for Abert was, "ALBERT THE ALBATROSS". I love you, Albert the Abetross and thank you for such wonderful childhood memories.
