Donald Ringel Obituary

Long time Centralia resident Donald Ringel passed away at his home July 8, with his family at his side.
Don was born and raised in Centralia. As a young teenager, he moved with his family to Baker, OR, where he completed high school and immediately joined the Navy. He proudly served in the Pacific during WWII, and once again during the Korean War.
He met Lee, his wife, in Portland, where he resided after the war. They were married in 1959, and settled in Centralia to begin their new life together.
As a Teamster, Don worked driving trucks; both in freight delivery and in heavy construction. He played a part in building many public projects, such as bridges, highways, power plants, and parks.
Don enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends with his Elks brothers and with his bowling teams. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors. After retiring, Don and his friends experienced the Pacific Northwest by motorcycle, riding many of the countless miles of winding Washington and Oregon roads.
Don is survived by Lee, his loving wife of 48 years; son Do of San Diego, CA; and son Rick of New Market, MD; and 5 grandchildren.
The family requests that remembrances be donated to The Knights of Columbus Council #1758, Centralia, WA or to other charitable organizations in lieu of flowers.
Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 starting at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centralia with Father David Mulholland as celebrant.
Nicheside service will be held later at Mountain View Cemetery in Centralia.
Arrangements under the direction of Newell-Hoerling's Chapel, Centralia.

Don was so very special to us all. We met on Classmates on his site "What you can face at 81". He had Charisma, that's for sure. I for one looked forward to his insight. He was a warm, caring, intelligent man.
Like Eddie Bullard wrote, and I quote, "Thou shalt be missed because thy seat will be empty".

Deepest Sympathy to the Ringel Family

You're in our thoughts
Please know how much
you are loved and how deeply
your loss is felt by all.

I was Blessed to meet Donald on Classmates 4 years ago.

Those we hold most dear never truly leave us…they live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives.

an excerpt from Donald's last post..
"Who ever thought we would end up with over 5400 hits on Roll Call, We become one big group of friends. I LOVE EVERYONE of them."

I'm Gonna Miss Him...
Rest in Peace My Friend..

We only know Don through his son, Rick. He left an amazing testament to his good life - I am sure Rick is a reflection of Don's Great love for life and the people in it. Our condolances. May you always walk in beauty.

We have many, many memories with you being our neighbors on Shamrock Drive. Don was always fun to talk to; he definitely knew his mind! The memory of his beautiful landscaping and garden still lingers.
