Bluffton, S.C. - Mrs. Beverly Christenson Hammond, 77, died peacefully in her home February 23, 2005 after a long and courageous battle against Multiple Myeloma. She was born August 22, 1927 in Albert City, IA. and was resident of Sun City for more than seven years. A graduate of the University of Iowa, she was married to William H. Hammond for 45 years and they enjoyed a wonderful life together. They lived in several locations during their careers including De Moines, IA, Mount Prospect, IL, Cos Cob, CT., Barrington, IL. and Parker, CO., prior to moving to Bluffton, S.C. Mrs. Hammond was very active in the communities where she lived and took great pride in her contributions and involvement in the organizations she served, especially Lord of Life Lutheran Church. She is an inspiration to her family and friends for her courage, positive attitude and determination to overcome her medical problems. Her focus was rarely on her ailments or how she was feeling. She was always more interested in activities or the concern of others. Her greatest pride was her family. She also loved to travel, adored her friends and enjoyed entertaining. She focused on the future and toward the end was still planning activities for her church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Hammond is survived by her sons William H. Jr. (Patricia), of Summit, N.J. and James C. (Debra), of Barrington Hills, IL, as well as Her granddaughter Kathryn (Katie) of Summit, N.J.; her twin sisters Janet Carlson of Minnetonka, MN. and Joann Jasica of Punta Gorda, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Olaf and Myrtle Christenson and her dear husband William H. Hammond. Visitation will be held 4 - 6 p.m., Sunday, February 27 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, S.C. Funeral Service: 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 28, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, S.C.
