Brett Doty Herrin
Savannah
The family of Brett Doty Herrin is saddened to announce his passing on March 17, 2021. Brett was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend.
He was the son of Diane Mullis Herrin and the late Will Doty "Billy" Herrin. He was born in Savannah on June 2, 1967, and spent most of his years there until he moved to the Herrin farm in Newington, Georgia. He was a graduate of Savannah Country Day School and Georgia Southern University with a degree in business administration. He worked with his father for many years at Savannah Concrete and then Coastal Sand, where he was the owner and president. In more recent years, he was driving long haul trucks and loved seeing the people and beauty of different parts of the country.
Brett was also an avid outdoorsman and animal lover, spending countless hours in a deer stand, in a field, and on the water. On his farm, Brett continued the Herrin tradition of growing sweet corn and hosting the annual corn shucking party. He also welcomed friends and family for deer and dove hunts, fishing, and pecan picking in the orchard. He loved cooking and grilling for family and friends and would always share his amazing food and recipes. He enjoyed farm life, growing crops and rearing many animals, but his dogs were the most special to him.
While Brett was always independent, there was nothing more important to him than family and friends. He was always looking to help and support those closest to him. He will always be remembered for his sweet eyes and kind heart.
He is survived by his son, Brannen Herrin, his mother, Diane Herrin, his siblings, Mark Herrin (Kari Herrin) and Julie Herrin, his nieces and nephews, Athon, Asher, and Ellie Herrin and Mason, Blake, Joseph, and Grace Stoever, his best friend, Rene Green, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Herrin, and his precious daughter, Meredith Alaine Herrin, who welcomed him home with open arms and a beautiful smile.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to One Love Animal Rescue, 463 Johnny Mercer Boulevard, Suite B7 #142, Savannah, Georgia, 31410, and CURE Childhood Cancer, 200 Ashford Center North, Suite 250, Atlanta, Georgia 30338.
