Cynthia Bignault Obituary

Cynthia 'Cindy' Rahn Bignault
Savannah, GA
Cynthia Rahn Bignault of Savannah, Georgia went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 19, 2020. A lifelong native of Savannah, Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Milton Hoyt Rahn and Betty Smith Rahn and her sister Julia Tucker. After graduation from Savannah High School, she pursued her teaching degree at the University of Georgia, then returned home to serve as a social studies educator at Tompkins High School. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Bignault, and beloved son, Samuel Bignault. Cindy was a long-time parishioner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she loved to worship and pray alongside her numerous friends, her husband, and son.
For all the challenges that Cindy faced, she maintained her sincere, compassionate spirit. Her family was the absolute joy of her life with her "star student" son being her proudest accomplishment. Her hobbies included baking cheesecakes and blondies for family, showing her beautiful roses, and reflecting on her many adventurous international travels. She will always be remembered as a gentle listener, beautiful mother, and brilliant woman. Although Cindy is deeply missed, we know Cindy is currently enjoying her time catching up with her parents and sister.
Cindy will not be having a public ceremony at this time. However, remembrances may be made to St.Paul's Episcopal Church or the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance in Cindy's honor.

Michael and Sam: You do not know me, but I want you to know that I was deeply saddened to hear about Cindy's passing. I just found out this past weekend (June 2024) when I looked her name up on the Internet and found the obituary. I saw that Julia was gone too. I first met Cindy many years ago when we were both students at Savannah High School. I was one of the only three or four African-American students at Savannah High at the time. During that turbulent time, when Savannah's schools were heavily segregated, and racial hatred was everywhere, Cindy and her family provided a refuge for me of kindness and acceptance, which was rare in the early 70s in Savannah. Cindy and I spent much time together in school, at her house, and my house. Cindy's compassion and open-heartedness left a lasting impact on me. I'm grateful for the friendship we shared during those formative years. I hope her welcoming, loving legacy lives on in your memories. She and her family were remarkable people that I've never forgotten. Leah Sears, Former Justice, Supreme Court of Georgia

Mike and Sam,
It´s hard to believe it´s been a year since Cindy transitioned to heaven. I remember coming to your home for afternoon coffee and sweets. Cindy was a great hostess and her desert was delicious. I also remember admiring her beautiful roses. Beautiful memories honor our loved ones. Thinking of you and praying for peace and comfort for you both.

In God´s Love,
Keith and Renee´ Grotheer.

Mrs. Bignault,
You were such a wonderful teacher and person. Your hair was never out of place and you always came dressed to the T when you taught me. You were strict when it came to teaching, but you always knew how to put a smile on our faces.
May God be with your family and friends through this time. You will truly be missed

Cindy was my cousin since I was born but as adults she became my best friend. For 8 years I had the privilege of living about 2 hours away. She was my chicken soup when I was sick, my psychologist when I had a bad day and she always laughed at my silly stories! My greatest honor was to be her prayer partner when she was secretly praying for God to send her a baby. Sam, you were her greatest blessing and what joy you brought to her life! My prayers are with you and Michael; not just for today, but always.
