As a child of 7, I saw Danny Sims hit the longest home run I have ever seen. First pitch of the game, off the back of a building across the street..on the fly. Oh, he was playing for Union Camp Pony League. My father, George Ulmer, was the manager of the opposing team. This all happened in Springfield, Georgia. I still tell this story even today. Danny was 14 at the time. Tip my hat, Danny.

Mayette and family. Remembering you and Danny fondly during the years I worked with him at First Bank of Savannah. He was such a mentor to me in my early years. Mayette, I still have the porcelain angel you gave me when Brent was born in August, 1983 and hang it on our tree every Christmas I know you miss him.

I was so sorry to hear about Danny. He taught me too about banking, southern hospitality and that the customer was always right....even when he's not. Our days at First Bank of Savannah were my favorite training ground as a professional. I fondly remember him as a southern gentleman with a quiet demeanor. Mayette, Daniel and Natalie...I know you'll miss him. You are in my prayers.

Mayette, it is unbelievable after such a happy fun time we spent together at our class of 65 50th reunion just last weekend, Danny's life was taken so quickly from all those who love him.
