Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Donald D. Furman US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Hey Guardian Angel, Wow 7 years and 5 months have gone bye so quickly, and it still feels like yesterday when I had to hold our daughter and tell her, daddy was not coming home, and had gone on to be with Jesus. Donald my heart hurts so much at times all I can do is close the door to my room and scream as hard as I can into a pillow and pray for peace. Our daughter is so beautiful now and she is becoming such a remarkable young lady. I know you are very proud of her, Shaquarius and Donald Jr.. These children of ours are growing up to be beautiful, smart, wise, strong, loving, and awesome young adults. I remember when we just married, and pregnant in Hawaii, MAN OH MAN that was a learning but awesome experience I had with you the first 3 years of our marriage. Then VA for 2 years and Fort Riley for the rest. I love you my Angel and even though we divorced in 2004 and remarried we were good friends and awesome parents. You Donald taught me a lot in life I miss you. Till next time, RIP MY GUARDIAN ANGEL!

I MET DONALD BACK IN 1990, WHEN I WAS IN 8TH GRADE. HE WAS ACUALLY MY FIRST BOYFRIEND. WE ALWAYS GOT IN TROUBLE BECAUSE WE ALWAYS DID WE HAD TO TO BE TOGETHER. AFTER WE HAD BROKEN UP, WE STILL REMAINED THE BEST OF FRIENDS. WHENEVER HE WOULD COME HOME TO BURTON SC, HE WOULD CALL ME OR COME BY AND VISIT ME. I REMEMBER THE LAST TIME THAT HE CAME HOME, WAS IN JUNE OR JULY OF 2004, HE CAME BY MY MOM'S HOUSE AND WE TALKED FOR HOURS. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD MET A GOOD WOMAN AND THAT THEY WERE GONNA GET MARRIED. HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE DEPLOYED BACK TO IRAQ IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. WE TALKED ABOUT SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS AND I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE HIM. HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS FINALLY HAPPY AND THAT HE WAS READY TO SETTLE DOWN AND THAT HE WAS IN THE CHURCH. WE HUGGED BEFORE HE LEFT AND VOWED THAT WE WOULD SEE EACHOTHER AGAIN. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM. DONALD WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET HIM. I MISS U DONALD!

Well What can I say Donald, Cassandra and I miss you very much. I miss your phone calls to see how Cassandra and I are doing. Time has gone by so fast. It feels just like yesterday, that you I were talking about how are daughter would be when she hit middle school and how Shaquarius and D would be in highschool. Damn, I lost a very good friend and the Kids lost an awesome dad, an father. If I could change back the hands of time alot of things would have been changed, and the kids and I would still have you in our lives. Gosh,What to do? Michael is doing good by your daughter he is making sure she is being raised the way you would have done it. He is a great step father to Cassandra and they talk about you on constant basis, to keep your sprit alive, and beaming bright through her. Shaqurius and D are doing good from what I have heard from your brother last time we talked. I missed them alot, hopefully time will heal their wounds and broken hearts over the loss of you, and what we went through all together. I Love Them very much. Well Donald much love and I will be seeing you through our kids eyes.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Donald, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Donald,
It seems like yesterday that you, Dolanda, and I were at Battery Creek in Band class. You were you a good drummer, and a good friend. We both shared our love for this country by joining the ranks of many men and women who have served this country well. As a friend, I will say that you will be greatly missed... As an fellow Army comrade, I will say keep the troops in line in that big Army in the sky. As an Army wife I will say that your works have not and will not go in vain. You are a TRUE American HERO and I thank you for your selfless service to our country. You have made the ultimate sacrafice so that others can sleep safe at night. So you sleep in peace now, and know that our comrades will continue to fight the fight.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

To the Family and Friends of Don::::
No matter how old or how young, one life lost, is one life too many. We are just getting our lives back in order after losing our beloved Granddaughter, A1C Elizabeth N. Jacobson, the First Female Security Forces Blue Beret, who lost her life in Iraq, 9-28-05. She is now guarding the gates in Heaven while waiting for Donald, and we want you to know that he will not be forgotten and hope that you will be as proud of him for serving as we were of Elizabeth. Without our children this Country would not be what it is today, whether from the first War for freedom until today's wars, we give our lives so Freedom can be obtained. I wish it was different, but unfortunately, it is going to be someone's loved one. May G-d bless our troops, and hopefully, someday Freedom and Peace will reign, so they all can be brought home safely.
No matter what type of accident or act of war, a loss of a child or friend is very traumatic, I know that it isn't much consolation, I hope that you know that there are others that feel your pain.
Elizabeth's motto was "We're only on Earth for a little while, so live life to the fullest and carry a smile."
prayers to you all...

May God bless you in a very special way, as He took a very special person from this world to be with Him. I thank God every day for men like your son who are willing to fight for our freedom and the freedom of oppressed nations. I know Donald has made a difference in every life he has touched. God bless everyone in his family
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they
protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they
perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus,
our Lord and Savior. Amen.
