Dorothy Allen Obituary

Dorothy Allen - SYLVANIA - Dorothy Allen passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Screven County Hospital in Sylvania. Mrs. Allen had been a resident at Lakeview Manor in Springfield since 2003 until her declining health required her move to Syl-View Nursing Home in September of this year. Born in 1910 in Savannah, Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late George and Rose Dugger. From the time she was a young girl, she delighted in visiting her aunts and uncles, all of whom lived in vicinity of Rincon and Blanford. She had nearly 30 first cousins in Effingham County. After her and her husband, the late A.M. Allen, retired in 1976, they moved to Springfield where they made many friends and Mrs. Allen renewed her relationship with her cousins. Mrs. Allen was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church and the Georgia Salzburger Society. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a kind and considerate woman, and a lover of animals. She is survived by two sons, George Hoover of Tampa, FL, and Frank Coney of Asheville, NC, three grandchildren, Deborah Waters of Meigs, GA, George Hoover of Lutz, FL, and Ben Hoover of Moultrie, GA, a step-grandson, Lance Dome of Provo, UT, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced. Thomas C.
