I have already signed the guest book, but wanted you to know that I pray for your family every morning. It's those prayers that will sustain you through the initial devastation of losing Dustin. May 13th will be one year since we lost our precious son, Paul. Please know that multitudes are putting you before our Lord and Savior and our Almighty God. He will give you rest.

Dottie and David, I am so sorry for your loss of Dustin. I worked with Dottie several yeas back and I know how much you both love your family. I lost my baby daughter 5 years ago at age 26 and I am not over it to this day. It does not get easier, you just learn to cope. Many days I stand before the mirror getting dressed and say "You will have to carry me today Jesus because I can't carry myself." I can tell you as a parent loosing a child that God is there with you, when it gets hard he will take you in his loving arms and carry you. Every child is different and every relationship is different but as you my 2 girls were my world. I have and am praying for you, we all have said God only loans them to us for awhile, but we don't ever expect him to call them back, if we did we would never say those words. Keep your faith and lean on him, don't be angry with him, for he to lost his son on a cross for you and me. I went thru all this and I know or think I can imagine how you feel. We must keep the love in our heart and the memories alive and know he is now with God. If you get down like I do from time to time God will send you to Ecclesiastes 3 to read, as he did me when I hit my knees in tears one night. I am praying for you all 3 and I pray that God will give you the strength to get thru these trying days. May God Bless You.

David, Dottie, Donna and Ian,
Like the many hundreds of people who attended Dustin's memorial on Friday, I sat in the church with a profound sense of loss, mostly because I did not get to know Dustin as a young man. The Dustin I knew was the playful, baby-faced little three and four year old boy who enjoyed the other children, the playground and lunch! Amy Barry and I enjoyed having him in daycare and preschool! I am so overwhelmed by the amount of pain and sadness that you must feel now and will for quite sometime. However, I am also so very amazed at the young man you raised, the young man whom you trained and the wise old soul who intimately knew his creator walking with Him in a real and life-changing way.
I pray that God will continue to give you all what you need to get through each day until we all see him again.
Prayerfully,
Loretta DiFava-Shepherd

Although I do not know you or knew your son,I feel the heartfelt sadness you are going though. God called our son home in 2004, he was 16. With Gods comfort family and wonderful friends we made it though. I pray he gives you the awesome comfort he gave us at our time of loss. Know that people you don't even know will lift you up when you least expect it.
Our thought and prayers are with you.
The Kuntz Family
This is something that was sent to me and I pray it gives you comfort knowing you will see him again.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To see all of the outpouring of love for Dustin does not surprise me at all. Micajah has been fortunate to call him "friend" since he enrolled in Calvary in their preschool years. While this is so extremely hard to wrap our thoughts around, I just pray that Dustin's faith and love for our Lord will have such an impact on all of our kids. That more will come to know God and want the security of eternity in Heaven that Dustin now has. His was such a big personality, both on the field and off and you did an amazing job in raising such a fine young man. Our prayers are with you.

Mr. and Mrs. Dauphinee, Donna, and beloved Ian,
I cannot find the words to express how deeply Dustin will be missed, nor can I find any words that will ease the pain of his passing. I can only rely on the words of Jesus, who promised, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:4)." Be comforted in knowing that you will see Dustin again, be comforted in knowing that Jesus walks beside each of you. He will carry the sorrow of your loss.
With deepest sympathy,

Dauphinee Family and Friends,
I am at a loss of words and you have been heavy on my heart. My sister works at Calvary and has kept us updated. I am sorry for your loss of a great son and friend. The most comforting thing I know to say right now is from reading about Dustin, he had a great testimony and is up in Heaven with Jesus! I believe that his testimony will live on. During this time, remember the Poem "Footprints in the Sand" Here is a portion of it "I don't understand why in times when I needed you most, you should leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering.
"When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." Let God carry you through this time, that is what He is there for. You are in my thoughts and prayers, as I know you have difficult days ahead.

To Dustins parents words will never express the heaviness that I as a mother feel for your loss. God only gives us earthly posessions for a season. The season that this child was with Your family You took care of him and loved him and taught him the way of the Lord take great pleasure in knowing that this young child that god entrusted you with will not only live on through you but the memories of so many others that his life touched. Because you chose to be Godly parents. please feel blessed by God for such a great a gift that Dustin was and forever more will be. Just know that he loves you now, just as he loved you when he gave Dustin to you. Just lean on him and continue to serve him and you will receive your heavenly reward also. My son asked me, why did this happen to Dustin, he was such a great guy. I told him perhaps his mission here on Earth was to be an example to all who knew him, of how a true follower of Christ should live his life. Dustin was that example. Our children are living in a difficult world and have many hard choices to make. Maybe now they will ask, “What would Dustin do?”
I want to thank you Dottie and Dave, for raising such a fine example for our children to follow. We all loved him so much and are praying for your family to find peace.

Dear David, Dottie, Donna and Ian,
There are very few people in this world who have impacted so many people in such a short period of time. Dustin was that kind of young man. He was what every parent hopes that their child will be, a young man of incredible character. He led an exemplary life that touched not only his peers at Calvary, but kids and parents alike, throughout the city of Savannah. He was an outstanding athlete, a kind, loving, compassionate young man who never met a stranger and who set an example for us all. He was a leader not only on the football field, but in life. His hugs following a football game were always welcome and will never be forgotten. You should all be very proud of having raised such a wonderful young man who who has touched so many lives, and whose legacy will be forever remembered. May God bless you during this most difficult time and in the days ahead. (Walter, Caren and Coach Phillip Lee)

Dave...I am in constant thought and prayer for you and your family. I know that this loss is so very difficult for you, and there are no words to comfort you; just take comfort in the joy of knowing the many lives Dustin touched during his time here with us and that his life on earth was truly a blessing to so many. An elderly man once told me upon a young person's passing that God grows the absolute freshest, most beautiful flower garden imaginable, and every so often He goes out, looks around at his flowers, and picks the most breathtaking of all of them for Himself. He must be overjoyed with His recent gathering. I know there is truly another special "Angel" in heaven now. Take care and know that I am thinking of you, Dottie, Donna, Ian, and other family and friends. Love ya........

Dave, Dottie and Family,
Dave I have known you for a long time, from the time we worked on Patrol together to Investigators in CID yrs later. It was always a relief to see "Big Dave" pull up when I was having to deal with some disorderly person. And even though our kids schools are big rivals, I always cheered for Dustin and Calvary, when they were not playing Savannah Christian of course.
Dottie and Dave, I can not even imagine the pain you and your family are going through right now. Even though we can not come close to understanding why God permits tragic things like this to happen, just remember God always has a plan. For some reason he wanted Dustin to come home now to be with Him, and for some reason you and your family are suppose to go through this tragidy and pain. Being brought up a Catholic I was always taught that God works in mysterious ways; ways like I said that we will never understand until we enter Gods Kingdom ourselves. Try and be strong and keep the faith. My prayers are with you and your family.

I know you are both in sadness now, but remember where he is going and that he will be better off there than here. We haven't seen him in a long time, but remember him as a sweet little boy. May God's blessings be with you and the family.

David, Dottie, and family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers! I know that in time your precious memories together as a family with Dustin will keep you strong. I can not image the the hurt you are going through at this time and I wish I could take it away for you. The two of you are such wonderful people and a loving family. May God be with you and hold you during this time. Just remember I am just down the road if I can ever do anything for you or just come and offer a shoulder or ear!
Love and prayers to you all!

To the Dauphinee family,
I do not know any of you personally, but I do have some idea of what you are going through. My Son was killed on Truman Parkway at Delesseps Ave. five years ago. My other son Cliff does know Ian, through Armstrong and the BCM. My wife and I know what it is to have a son depart this earthly life unexpectedly. We will be praying for you, and all your family. Dustin is home with Jesus now, and is happier than he could ever be here on this earth. I know that right now that does not ease the pain, but God will be there to strengthen and comfort you.
A parent who has been where your are,

Dear Dauphinee Family: Our daughters are Calvary graduates (Melissa 05 and Machlle 08) and we just wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May your sweet memories of Dustin bring you comfort. As the days and weeks pass, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
