In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To the family, I pray that you will continue to look toward the hills which cometh your help, because all your help comes from the Lord. Although, I only knew Deacon Mathis for a short while, I had come to appreciate his personality. What I witness from him---he always was willing to help someone, especially us at the Association when the A/C wasn't working. He definitely will be missed and what he had contributed will be greatly appreciated.

Everyone here at Sunrise Foods that new Eddie is saddened by his untimely passing. Eddie has been here numerous times and we talked about alot of things. The one thing that I saw Eddie doing and sticks with me is when I walked into the control room and Eddie was reading his bible, and that tells me he was a man of wisdom because he new what it would take to live forever. We will keep his family in our prayers

To The Mathis Family: We were sadden by the news of Eddie, he serviced our Refrigeration Units here at FUJI OIL monthly. He was one of the best guys anyone could have ever know. Eddie loved his family and always had an encouraging word. He will be greatly missed, may God comfort you through this time of grief.

One thing that Eddie and I had in common was a machine that he and I spent many hours working on together and equally disliked. However, through that dislike I come to have much brotherly love for Eddie. We often talked about our families and sold each other fund raising goods that our kids were selling. I took Eddie's passing unusally hard for someone who only occasionally saw him. I think the reason why I felt this way was that I thought people like Eddie lived forever. Then it dawned on me that he will now live forever and I smiled.

There are 3 men in this world I admire. Only 3. You were one of them. I don't know many men that carry themself the way you do, and live the type of Christian life you lived. I must truly say that "I will miss you man" Only God knows because it's his plan.

I was saddened to learn that Eddie was called home to glory. He will be dearly missed here at the plant. Eddie serviced equipment here and it was always a great pleasure to be in his present. He loved his family and the Lord. While sadden, I know that the Lord had need of Eddie so He called him home. I will pray that God will send the Comforter to comfort Eddie’s family during this time of grief. Joy will come in the morning.
