Everett Lamar "Pete" Paulk - Statesboro -Everett Lamar "Pete" Paulk, 73, died Friday, July 21. 2006 at The Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. Mr. Paulk was born July 10, 1933 in Appling County to the late Everett (Buddy) Paulk and Nellie Story Paulk and graduated from Baxley High School in 1950. He was a retired veteran of the Korean Conflict. He Entered the U. S. Navy on August 13, 1951 and served continuously until his retirement on August 25, 1970. He advanced to The rank of Senior Chief Personnelman (E8). After his retirement he returned to Appling Co. While living in Appling Co., he served as Chief Tax Appraiser for about 13 years. He was responsible for installing the first computerized tax program in Appling Co. He later served as Chief Appraiser in Tattnall. Tift, & Twiggs Counties, retiring in 2000. Following retirement, he lived on Lake Oconee in Morgan Co. for several years and was a member of Eatonton Presbyterian Church in Eatonton. Hemoved to Statesboro in 2004. Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Darthey Johnson Paulk of Statesboro; four sons, Everett Wayne (Lesia) Paulk of Statesboro, Steven Mark (Robin) Paulk of Acworth, Ronald Alan (Carla) Paulk of Rocky Mount, NC and Randall Lee (Liz) Paulk of Norcross; three sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Ellijay, Ruth Barber of Metter, and Faye Lewis of Jesup; one brother, Alvin Paulk of Miami, FL; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2006 in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home. Interment: Paulk-Tomberlin Cemetery in Appling County with military honors.
