Aunt Gert may well have been made of the finest glue known, because she held ALL of us together! She was a most generous, and loving person. She shared her love, her life, her heart, her food, her home, and always did it in a quiet manner that gave us the everlasting assurance of knowing she cared, no matter what. She was also a real LADY, in the finest sense of the word! Our loss is God's gain.

My sympathies to all. Aunt Gert was very dear to me and I treasure the memories I have of the times spent in her home. I always knew her to be cheerful, industrious, and devoted to her family.
She taught me useful things e.g. how to season and care for an iron skillet, how to make great sweet tea, and if drying blue jeans on stretchers ever comes back into vogue I can do it! very practical everyday routines I can use for a lifetime. that was Aunt Gert..practical, down to earth, and totally endearing.
