Gertrude Temples Calhoun

Mrs. Gertrude Temples Calhoun - VIDALIA - Mrs. Gertrude Temples Calhoun, age 88, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Bethany Nursing Center of Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Emanuel County but lived most of her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker and was employed by Vidalia City Drugs for thirty years and was a member of the Smith Street Baptist Church of Vidalia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis V. Calhoun, a grandson, Gregory Michael Williamson, and a great-granddaughter, Kaylin Leigh Giddens. Survivors are: one son and daughter-in-law; Robert and Janet Calhoun of Atlanta, GA, two daughters and sons-in-law; Brenda and Joseph Stanley of Lyons, Judy and Ed Trout of Tybee Island, GA., one sister and brother-in-law; Sara and Thomas Barfield of Macon, GA., One brother, Jack Temples of Houston, TX., eight grandchildren; Vic Stanley, Skip Stanley, Glen Williamson, John Williamson, Kristin Calhoun, Whitney Calhoun, David Trout, Nat Trout; seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Gertrude Calhoun, will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., at Murchison Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Smith and Rev. Murray Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery of Vidalia. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday Evening, October 20, 2008, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Floral gifts will be accepted or donations may be made to the Gregory Michael Williamson Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 1889, Clemson, S.C. 29633. The family will be assembling at the home of Mrs. Gertrude T. Calhoun, at 750, Joe Collins Rd., Lyons, GA., 30436.
