Harriet VonWaldner Obituary

Harriet Von Waldner - SAVANNAH - Harriet Von Waldner, 81, died Friday, January 11, 2008, at Azalealand Nursing Home. Born in Savannah, Georgia on November 23, 1926, she was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy and a long time communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Mrs. VonWaldner retired from the Chatham County Juvenile Court in 1993. During her life, she was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed swimming, tennis, running, biking, and spending time with friends and family. She lived her last 14 years under the loving care of her extended family at Azalealand Nursing home. The family extends its deepest appreciation to those who so lovingly cared for her during this time. She raised five loving children. She is survived by her children, Eugene VonWaldner, Jr. and his wife, Linda, John A. VonWaldner, Josephine Cooper and her husband, Timothy, Angela Corish and her husband, Julian, and Stephen VonWaldner and his wife, Karen. She is also survived by two devoted sisters, Irma Dixon and Betty Pruitt of Savannah, and a brother, Anthony Kaufman and his wife, Jeannine, of San Antonio, Texas. She had eight grandchildren: Jennifer Willcoxon and her husband, Gary, Chrissy VonWaldner, John A. VonWaldner, Jr., Sara VonWaldner, Emily Corish, and Evan, Daniel, and Bennet VonWaldner. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. There will be a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
