James Dunbar Obituary

Mr. James Dunbar August 5, 1939 - July 2, 2013 - HARDEEVILLE, SC - Mr. James Dunbar, 73, slipped into eternal rest at his residence on July 2, 2013. He was member of Greater Mount Olive Reformed Methodist Union Episcopal Church, Hardeeville, SC. Mr. Dunbar served on the Steward Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Assistant Pastor Steward Building Committee, Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher and Honorary member of the Senior Usher Board. He was a graduate of A. E. Beach High School and Savannah Tech. James also served in the United States Army in 1967, receiving a honorable discharge. He retired from Amoco Oil Company with more than 30 years of service. He was the 1st Black Supervisor at Amoco Oil Company Savannah, GA. He was also employed at Grayco of Bluffton, SC. He was a former member of the Omar Temple #21 Ezra Casitra of Savannah, GA. Happy Home Lodge #25 Hardeeville, SC. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife Mary Bush Dunbar; one son, James Derek (Roberta) Dunbar, Jr., of Savannah, GA; three daughters, Cheryl (Reginald) Strobhart, Sandra (Rodney) Green and Karen Dunbar all of Hardeeville, SC; one brother, Louis Dunbar of Gainesville, FL; one sister, Cozelle Wright of New York, NY; one adopted daughter, Stephanie Chisholm and one adopted son James Chisholm; one adopted son, James (Mary) Chisholm; one Goddaughter, Yvonne Brownlee all of Hardeeville, SC; one adopted sister, Della (Charles) Washington of Savannah, GA; five sisters-in-law, Betty (Vernel) Oliver, Vivian Young both of Savannah, GA, Frances (Richard) Brownlee and Barbara B. Clark both of Hardeeville, SC; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Walker and Willie Wright of Savannah, GA, eight grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews along with his Babe Princess. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Greater Mount Olive RMUE Church, 481 Purrysburg Rd., Hardeeville, SC 29927. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at Greater Mount Olive RMUE Church. Burial: Mount Olive Memorial Church Cemetery.
