Joyce Gewanter Bonder - SAVANNAH - Joyce Gewanter Bonder, 63, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Dr. Michael Ian Bonder, died Monday evening, March 9, 2009, at her residence under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late David Gewanter and the late Dorothy Lipsky Gewanter. Joyce was a member of Congregation Mickve Israel and Congregation Agudath Achim. She was a former member for 27 years of Congregation Bnai Zion in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she served as President of the Sisterhood. Joyce expressed her love of young children and learning as an elementary school teacher for several years in New York. She was most recently a homemaker who loved her family, knitting, reading and traveling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Andrew Bonder. Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Dr. Michael Ian Bonder of Savannah; her daughter, Cherie Dennis of Savannah; her grandson, Emmett Dennis of Savannah, and her brother, Michael Gewanter of Woodmere, New York. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the graveside, Beth David Cemetery, in Elmont, New York. The family will sit Shiva at the home, 5 Sparkleberry Lane, on Sunday and Monday between the hours of 3 and 8 o'clock. Remembrances: Robert A.
