Lamar Clark Obituary

Lamar Wesley Clark, Jr., left this life, Nov. 5, 2018 at his residence, with his best friend and love of his life for 62 years, by his side, under Hospice Care. Lamar was born and raised on a farm in Alamo, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar W. Clark, Sr., and Willa Pearl Clark, a brother, Kenneth Clark, and a sister, Rachel Grance, and his 2 sons, Richard Lamar Clark, and Randall HIll Clark. After graduation in 1955, Lamar moved to Savannah, and in 1956, after Kay graduated, they married on Saturday, July 4, 1956 at 4:00 p.m., and made Savannah home. They raised identical twins, losing Randy in 2014 and Ricky in 2018, and now all 3 are together again. Lamar was known at the Elizabeth Cancer Institute at Memorial Medical Center as a walking miracle, with funny hats. He gave patients in the Chemo Room something to smile about. He would have celebrated 12 years Jan 4, 2019 with stage 4 lung cancer, "God is Good". Lamar was known by his sons as Pop, and grands as Grand Pa, a special friend, Big Daddy., and 5 grandchildren. I wish to thank all God given doctors at Memorial for their loving care, Dr. Bud Robertson, and Dr. Stephen Morris, also Hospice Savannah for their loving care and kindness. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Butch Clark (Laferra) of Gray, Ga; and a sister, Oretta Smith of Atlanta, Ga. He was a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Aldersgate United Methodist Men, the Finance Committee, the Administrative Board, the Bereavement Committee of the Church, taking care of a meal for the Bereaved Families, until it closed, and then he joined the ConneXion United Methodist Church, (formerly Cokesbury United Methodist Church). He was a member of the Exchange Club of Savannah, since 1998, and had worked for American Cyanamid (Kemira) for 42 1/2 years, where he was the manager of the Federal Credit Union. He was a member of the Senior Citizens, and worked with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to the needy, and the Savannah Ogeechee Canal Association. He was also a former member of the Ga Air National Guard, 165th Airlift Wing in Savannah, Ga at Travis Field Air Force Base. Visitation: 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday at ConneXion United Methodist Church. Funeral Services: 12 p.m. Friday at ConneXion United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Culbreth, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
