Martha Ward Obituary

Mrs. Martha Jean Arledge Ward -Savannah- Mrs. Martha Jean Arledge Ward 73 of 2240 East 42nd Street in Savannah, died Saturday morning in the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after an extended illness. Mrs. Ward was born in Pulaski, Georgia, April 11, 1933 a daughter of the late Heusie Fanning Arledge and Gladys McElveen Arledge. Mrs. Ward had retired as a Accounting Clerk with American Cyanamide Company in Savannah, and was a member of the Robertville Baptist Church in Robertville, SC. Surviving are: three sons, Danny Hugh Phillips of Savannah, Hughsie Leon Phillips of Round O.S.C., and Thomas Eugene Phillips of Mobile, Alabama; two daughters, Joan Walker of McDonough, Georgia and Suzanne Wybro of Katy, Texas; brother, Rufus F. "Pete" Arledge of Hampton; sisters, Ann Scarselletta of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Patricia A. Wilcox of Varnville and Rebecca H. "Becky" Rushing of Estill. There are 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Robertville Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dean Robbins and Rev. Gay Graham, with burial in the Church Cemetery directed by the Estill Chapel of Peeples -Rhoden Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Estill Chapel, located at 330 Clark Avenue is Estill form 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and Tuesday morning prior to services.
