Michael S. Rexroat, Jr. - POOLER - Michael S. Rexroat, Jr., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 24th. Mikey as he was known by family and friends, was the loving husband and soul mate of Lisa Redding Rexroat and an incredible father to his two daughters, Reese Elizabeth Rexroat and Avery Lane Edwards. Mike is the older son of Jan Taylor Rexroat and Mike S. Rexroat, Sr. He is also survived by his best friend and only brother, Jim Rexroat and his favorite sister-in-law, Jamie Puccini Rexroat. He was an amazing uncle to his niece Taylor and nephew Robby. All are residents of Pooler, Ga. Mike was born February 25, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky, and grew up as an Army brat living all over the world while his father served his country on various military assignments. The Panama years were especially meaningful to him where his love of the water was fostered and continued to develop into adulthood. He loved to surf, fish, water ski, wake board, and show the young kids how to deep water start while barefoot water skiing, especially at Elijah Clark State Park. Mike's love of anything with wheels and a motor was very apparent. The cars he built are well known and more like works of art than drag cars. His meticulous nature showed through in all aspects of his life. He approached every task with precision and determination. He was a lover of Harley Davidson Motorcycles and would ride out with the best of them. Mike never met a stranger. He enjoyed the respect and admiration of people from all walks of life...for his skills as a craftsman, his depth of character, his loyalty to his friends, and especially for his love and dedication to his family and his God. He loved hosting family gatherings and cooking your favorite Rexroat meal. He could roast oysters or put together a low country boil that would make any seafood chef envious. His touch with a tenderloin or prime rib had no rival. Mike graduated from Richmond Hill High School; he attended Armstrong College before earning an Associate's degree from Savannah Technical College. He was employed at BilMar CNC, Inc., Richmond Hill, GA, working with Billy and Marie Griffin, where he served a key role and was a devoted employee for the last 20 plus years. He was a member of Savannah Christian Church. Mike is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Pearl Taylor of Port St. Lucia, FL, his extended family: his in-laws Mary and Steve H. Redding, and Howie Redding of Pooler; his Lousiville, KY cousins: Rick, Sandy, and Willy Dietzman, Mark, Rosalind, Allison, Ashley, and Adam Dieztman; and many other friends and family. The visitation for family and friends will be Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 2794 West US Highway 80, Savannah, Ga 31408. A memorial to celebrate Mike's life will be held Saturday, at 1:00 p.m., at Savannah Christian Church's Adult Ministry Center, Henderson Boulevard. An education fund has been established for Reese at The Coastal Bank.
