Nettie Spaulding McClendon

Mrs. Nettie Spaulding McClendon, 90, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at Candler Hospital. She was a native of Sapelo Island, GA and lived in Savannah many years. She attended schools in McIntosh County and New York City. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Improvement and Missionary Committees. She was also a member of the 38th Street Neighborhood Association. She was a retired Nurse's Assistant at Chatham Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard McClendon, one son Stanley McClendon and several brothers and sisters. Survivors are: three daughters, Nettye Evans of Dover, DE, Delores Seligmann (Daniel) of Astoria, NY and Beverly Sloan (Bobby) of Savannah, GA; three sons, Clifford Handy (Ethel) of Las Vegas, NV, Jerome J. McClendon (Dorothy) of Greenville, SC, Howard McClendon, Jr., Hiqikah McClendon of Atlanta, GA; sister, Minnie Marie Spaulding Blue of Savannah, GA; two sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mae Spaulding and Margaret McClendon both of Savannah, GA; 16 grandchildren; ten great -grandchildren; one great -great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2004 at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Franklin Blackshear, officiating. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
