Condolences on your loss. The legacy of his beautiful work is a blessing. I have the unique pleasure in knowing that my father, Alf Ofstie, gave young Ray his first paint box. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Ruth Paulding

Gone but never forgotten
October 9, 2013
My thoughts of the low country and its beauty will always be with me thanks to Ray Ellis and his works. His work encouraged me to take painting classes at a very low point in my life. I often would walk through his gallery in Savannah and feel inspired. I never met him but felt like he was my best friend when I looked at his work.
My thoughts and sympathy are extended to his family on his passing.

Teddie,
Am thinking about you, my dear. Ray was so fortunate to have you as his loving wife all these years. Sending lots of love to you. Monica McGoldrick

Whenever Ray entered a room, the volume level would rise many dozens of decibels and the laughing would begin. He had a way of telling stories and jokes that would keep you riveted for hours. His talent for art and the appreciation of the world around him was also part of his persona. We will miss his physical presence, but his memory will live on with all of us who knew him, and who have a Ray Ellis book or painting gracing their home. God bless you!

Teddie, Treesa, Michael...just read Ray's obituary and want to say how wonderful it was to have met and worked for him for the short time I did. He treated me with great kindness and generosity and made me feel a part of the Ray Ellis Gallery family even though I was just a parttime employee. What a great life he led!

The world is a better place because he lived. I have a signed print of a painting by Ray Ellis and I am very proud to tell admirers that he was a distant cousin of mine. My condolences to the family and especially to Dick Ellis. I am so sorry.
