What a grand brave man he was. He displayed his values and principles on a daily basis even while ill. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers and I know that God will comfort you as only he can. Rhett said the Dr. Burnett and Father Raulston were in heaven reading Shakespear!

I love you,

Jayne

I remember Dr. Burnett with great fondness. As Dean, he was ALWAYS available to listen to and guide his students. As Acting President, his door was ALWAYS open.

He was there for us -- he cared for us and was the best cheerleader / guidance counselor / friend that ASC ever had.

Dr. Ashmore was a hard act to follow... so Dr. Burnett forged his own path. A path that led to greatness.

He will be sorely misssed.

Proud member: Class of 1983.

The AASU community and the city of Savannah have lost a wonderful person much too soon.

I was extremely saddened to hear of Dr. Burnett's death. While at Armstrong, he was always one of my greatest allies. He was a role model to myself and many others. He taught us how to live and lead through his own lifestyle. Even more importantly, he was a wonderful man and a true friend. Even though I live in Columbus now and graduated in 1989, I have had the pleasure of his company at various alumni functions. He was always interested in me and my family. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary and the family in this difficult time.

Dr. Burnett was a wonderful educator and administrator. His belief in my ability as a student at a time when I was not focused helped me to get on track, focus on the work and ultimately enjoy a successful college experience. I credit him for this, and am grateful for his sincere belief and encouragement.

He will be missed by many, but certainly never forgotten.

Bob will be missed by his long time friends in Louisville. We will never forget the good times, expecially the many gatherings at the "healing waters" (Cumberland Lake).

Dr. Burnett came to Armstrong around the same time I started there and was always a joy to talk to. He truly cared about his students and that care continued throughout his tenure and rise to the presidency of what was then Armstrong State College. I always made it a point to try to stop in and say "hi" whenever I could. He was a great man and I will miss him, but know that he is in a better place now. Rest well, Dr. Burnett!

I was on the search committee at ASC that hired Bob many years ago. I worked with him for several years until I left Savannah. He was a fine man, and I know he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
