Robert C. Smith, 78, passed into Heaven on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. He was an active member of Compassion Christian East Church. Robert was predeceased by his son, Robert C, Smith,Jr.
Robert is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeannie Z. Smith, three sons, Ross A.Smith (Candice) Kevin D. Ainsworth, and Derek M. Ainsworth (Shannon) and six grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 1:00pm, The Rev. Ken Philbeck officiating. Donations may be made to the Robbie Smith Endowment Fund at Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Dr., Savannah, GA, 31406

It was with a heavy heart that I heard of my college friend's passing. I was older than Robert but we became friends during his freshman year at Georgia Southern and continued thru the years. His son Ross is named after my best friend and his. He will be missd. RIP my friend.

he was an amazing grand daddy. growing up, i would always look forward to our little shopping trips and swimming in the creek when Hope and I stayed the night. I love and miss him so much, I will always hold him close to my heart. I am greatful for the love and compassion he showed my Grammy. His laugh will always play in my head. He will always be my grand daddy. I will always look up to him. I love you Grammy

I learned the sad news about Robert from David Patton just yesterday. Robert was a very special guy and was a part of our fun group at GSU in the early 60s. Robert was a good friend and will be truly be missed. To his family my condolences and my prayers to all of you at this sad time. I will miss having coffee and talking about life and sharing laughs. God bless you Robert.

I met Robert some 15 years ago at Candler Wellness Center. He really enjoyed working out with his gym buddies and talking about everything from the days current events to the early days of growing up. We also worked together as drivers for hertz, which we would often talk about different trips we would take in order to transport cars to many areas of Savannah and surrounding area. After I left the Wellness center I still stayed in contact with Robert as we would talk over the phone or meet at a local coffee shop every few weeks. The both of us took our driving skills to Uber, Robert and I would often share stories on our Uber adventures. Robert always had great stories and we would laugh many times, I loved his laugh and will miss him dearly. A good friend, a good man, and always would help if needed. To Roberts family, my deepest condolences and i am truly sadden for your loss. God Bless .

What an honor it was to have Robert as a friend. He was a true gentleman in every way. He and Jeannie were a beautiful couple, and he will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with Jeannie and the family. We know where Robert is now, and we will see him again.

So very sad to hear that my lunch friend has passed away. He was a great person. I am glad for the time I have known him. Many good times at Candler Wellness talking with him. He will be missed.
