Vera Veal Obituary

Vera Mae Judy Veal - GUYTON - Vera Mae Judy Veal, 91, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center ICU. The Emmanuel County native was a charter member of Rincon Baptist Temple, where she had kept the church nursery for many years. She was born a twin in a family of 17 children. Mrs. Judy was a 1942 honor graduate of Brooklet High School, where she played basketball. She had worked in the fields, in sewing factories, in chicken houses, and a hardware store. She loved to fish. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Slim Veal and a granddaughter. Survivors include her children, John D. Veal (Kathy), Harold O. Veal (Jo Ellen), and Jolene V. Lanier (Lawrence); sister, Ethel Etheridge (Rev. Talmadge); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Edwards and Mae Blair; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5-7 pm Friday, February 21, 2014 in the funeral home. Funeral: 2 pm Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Rincon Baptist Temple. Interment: Rincon Cemetery. Thomas C.
