His good friend Steve Colahan trained and accompanied Bill on those many excursions and became a second son. The family is forever grateful to Steve for his devotion to Bill. Bill was a keen observer and composed many serious articles concerning the meaning of life and man's relationship to our world. His compositions are available online. In later years, Bill enjoyed a close relationship with George, Steve, and many new friends. The worth of a man is best measured by the affection of his friends. Mr. Thaggard was my biology teacher at Groves High School, from which I graduated in 1970. His was one of my favorite classes. He selected me to represent my class in a regional Biology competition. I did not win or even place, but it was an honor to be selected to go. I have never forgotten Mr. Thaggard. May he rest in peace, and my prayers are for the family.

Mr Thaggard was a terrific teacher. I didn't do so well in his high school A& P but I aced it in college. I learned to study from him. I can still see him bouncing as he walked with his permanently attached coffee cup on his finger. We had his notes from a previous year. He had written his jokes in the margin. Same jokes every year word for word. I remember one thing he shared from being in the navy. I taught it to my children.

Mr. Thaggard was a great biology teacher. His lectures were informative and entertaining. His labs were funny and exciting. Our field trips were home homes. I served as his class/lab assistant for one year and had a great time. Go to God, my friend.

Mr. Thaggard was one of my favorite teachers at Groves. He mad science interesting. He one bought a pumpkin pie and put it in his kitchen at home and forgot about it. It grew mold all over the top. He brought it to school and shared it with us as what mold looks like. He was always making science real to us. May God bless you and your family during this time.

One of my favorite teachers at Groves, Mr. Thaggard was a kind and caring man with a wonderful dry sense of humor. His sense of duty to his teaching job was unsurpassed and evident to all of his students.
