Mother Zora Lee King Williams Corey was born on July 14, 1934 to Mr. and Mrs. Willie King and Mr. Sylvester Ruff in Hancock County, Georgia. She transitioned on January 19, 2021 at Candler Hospital.
After relocating to Savannah, Mother Corey attended the public schools of Chatham County where she became a member of the Beach High School basketball team.
She met and married the late Mr. Isaac Williams Sr. This union produced four children. On October 3, 1960, she married Fred B. Corey. This union produced four children.
After accepting Jesus Christ as her personal savior, she joined the College Park Baptist Church. As an active member, Mother Corey sang in the Combined Choir where she once served as the president. She also served as president of the Women Ministry. She attended Sunday School, was a member of the Mother Board and an original member of the Prayer Warrrior Bible Study. Mother Corey loved her church immensely and would do anything to insure the Lord's word was fulfilled.
During her employment, Mother Corey was employed at Williams Seafood, Savannah State College Snack Bar, and McCrory Stores.
Mother Corey was a nurturer. She had a heart of gold and would render aid to anyone in need. She became an adopted mother to many.
In addition to her parents, Mother Corey was preceded in death by her two sisters, Willie Mae Taylor and Doris Ward; her brothers Jessie, Charles, Talmadge and Frank King Sr. Also her son, Leon Corey and grandson Damon Corey.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Fred B. Corey; sons, Isaac Williams, Jr., Ronald (Irma) Williams, Sr., Randall (Shanta) Corey and Chris Corey; daughters; Jacquelyn (Larry) Bryan, JoAnne (John) Dickerson and Christal Corey; grandchildren Larry Jr., Robyn (Cornell),Danielle (Sean), Jessica, Ronald Jr. (Chelsea), Jamaal, Brandon, Chris Jr. (Donyale), Courtney, Xavier, Raymal (Chanell), Jaleel, Randall Jr., Morgan, Johnnise and Myles; eleven great grandchildren; daughter in law, Sheila Corey; brother in law, James (Dorothy) Corey; nieces and nephews raised as children, Sara Pendegraph Williams, Melvin Johnson, Gwendolyn Jefferson and Doris Logan; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
