Charles Peterson Obituary

Charles D. Peterson

March 26, 1952 - October 15, 2025

Charles D. "Pete" Peterson, age 73 passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at his home. He was born on March 26, 1952 in Superior, WI the son of Charles A. and Marlys (McFarland) Peterson.

Pete graduated from Hayward High School in 1970 and then entered into the United States Navy being stationed primarily in California and Morocco until his discharge in 1978. On April 19, 1971 he was united in marriage to Patricia Fredericks in Hayward, WI.

Following his discharge Pete would work for the railroad in Wisconsin Rapids. He also attended and graduated from Mid-State Technical College earning an associates degree in Civil Engineering. Pete would then begin his career as a driller for soil testing.

In 1988, Pete and his family would move to Monticello until they returned to Hayward after their daughter Laura graduated from High School. In 2004 Pete and Patricia moved back to New Glarus to be closer to their grandchildren.

Though he worked hard, Pete loved his time outdoors even more. He was an avid outdoorsman whose passion for nature led him to fishing, mushroom hunting, rock hunting, and bird watching. His love for the earth extended to his garden, where he found peace and great satisfaction. When he wasn't outside, Pete was a loyal fan of Wisconsin sports, rarely missing a game for his beloved Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks.

More than any hobby, Pete's greatest joy was his family. He was a truly kind and gentle man whose deepest love was reserved for his grandchildren. His legacy of kindness and patience will live on through them.

Pete is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Kerry Peterson and Laura (Jance) Marty, grandchildren Bo (Kristy Houk) Johnson, Chevy Peterson, Emma (Cayson Carroll) Marty, Max (fiancé Maggie Bobak) Marty, and Quinn Marty. He is further survived by his brothers Michael Peterson and Jack Peterson, sisters-in-law Pam Norton, Ginny (Terry) Reed, Colleen (Rob) Lampman, and Susie (Tony) Leciejewski, brother-in-law John Blank, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas "Buddy" Peterson, sisters Brenda Blank and Penny Jo Peterson, and canine companions Jessie. At Charles request no public services will be held. The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family. Online condolences may be given at www.bealfuneralhomes.com
