David Lee Scanlon, age 77, of Cable, WI, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2024 in Hayward, WI. He was born on March 3, 1947 in Hayward, the son of Virgil and Betty (Kellog) Scanlon.
Dave served in the National Guard and then worked as the head chef at Lakewood's Resort in Cable for over 37 years. He worked endlessly as a fishing guide covering many lakes within the Hayward, Cable and surrounding areas. He loved his time with clients and had many repeat customers and generations of the same family enjoyed fishing with him.
He was a true Northwoods man, enjoying everything from hunting and trapping to boating and fishing. David had a competitive side as well and found himself in many pool and bowling leagues. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and cheering on all the Wisconsin sports teams.
He is survived by his nephew, Christopher Scanlon of South Carolina, and many many great friends.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Donald; and his sister-in-law, Roxanne.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward, WI. A celebration of life will follow at Somewhere Else Bar (The Hutt) at 9623 WI Highway 27, Hayward, WI.
