Aurora Godoy Obituary

Aurora Godoy, 26, was the youngest victim killed in Wednesday's mass shooting in San Bernardino.

Published reports this week show a woman who, with her new husband, James Godoy, had goals.

A 2-year-old son, Alexander, a home, a new job with San Bernardino County's Department of Environmental Health - a job she was happy in, reports said.

Then came Dec. 2.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to support the San Jacinto woman's family.

According to the fundraising page at gofundme.com/3wd9j8bw, the family is known for its positive, fun and loving demeanor who was beloved by many.

"The Godoys are more than co-workers or friends, they are family," the post said. "As James and Alexander go through this difficult time during this holiday season, we want to help them in their time of grief. They are amazing people who need as much love and support they can get."

The fundraiser's goal is $15,000. The money will cover funeral expenses, the post said.

"Every and any little contribution will go a long way," it continued. "Let us come together to help James and baby Alexander during their difficult time."

A second GoFundMe has been set up by Godoy's sister-in-law, Evelyn Godoy, atgofundme.com/5jda8ysc. The fundraiser's goal is $15,000. Close to $10,000 has been raised as of Friday morning. The money will go to childcare and other expenses, the post said.

Godoy, whose maiden name was Banales, graduated from Carson High School in 2007.

Godoy and her husband were high school sweethearts and had been together since 2003.

"My brother is too young to be a widower let alone a single father," the post said. "Aurora was always loving and giving. She was willing to help all of her loved ones. She loved to bake and cook. She was really creative and was always willing to help with birthday parties and functions. She loved spending time at Disneyland with her family. We will miss her bubbly personality, always smiling, and her funny way of saving hello."

Its deeply sad that this young mother of a 2-year-old child died in the San bernardino terror attack. This was one of the saddest post-9/11 tragedies. May she rest peacefully with the Lord.
